PAROL6 is a high-performance, 3D-printed desktop robot arm from Source Robotics, designed to feel like a scaled-down industrial arm in mechanical design, control software, and usability rather than a hobbyist toy. It’s a genuinely active open-hardware project — the control software, GUI, and all STL files are open-source, and more than 250 units are already in use by students, hobbyists, and small automation builders worldwide.

The mechanism

Six actuated joints in series — five revolute (L1 through L5) plus a continuous wrist roll (L6, with no travel limit) — give the arm its six degrees of freedom, the same axis count as a typical small industrial arm. No mimic joints or closed kinematic loops anywhere in the description.
