The RX160 is Stäubli’s medium-payload industrial arm — a 20 kg-payload, 1.6 m-reach 6-axis robot used for material handling, dispensing, and welding, part of the RX family of general-purpose industrial arms.

The mechanism

Six revolute joints in series form a textbook 6-axis serial arm — no mimic joints, no closed kinematic loops, every movable joint an independent actuator. Real, non-zero mass and inertia are declared for every structural link, totaling roughly the arm’s real ~155 kg weight class.

Choosing a variant

Both variants share the identical six-joint structure — they differ only in reach:

  • RX160 — the standard configuration, 1.6 m reach.
  • RX160L — the extended-reach configuration, with a longer forearm than the standard RX160, trading some payload capacity for reach.

This links directly to the ros-industrial/staubli repository, the ROS-Industrial community’s own description package for Stäubli’s arms — Stäubli itself doesn’t publish a URDF, the same situation as this gallery’s ABB and KUKA entries. Unlike most ROS-Industrial packages in this gallery, the URDF here is a real, literal file, not expanded from xacro at import time — Open in ARMOR downloads exactly what’s committed upstream, verbatim.
