The K1 is Booster Robotics’ compact humanoid research platform — about 95 cm tall and 19.5 kg, built as an accessible entry point into bipedal locomotion, embodied AI, and robot soccer. It’s the RoboCup 2025 KidSize league champion.

The mechanism

Twenty-two independent revolute joints: 2 in the head (yaw and pitch), 4 per arm (shoulder pitch and roll, elbow pitch and yaw), and 6 per leg (hip pitch/roll/yaw, knee, ankle pitch/roll) — no mimic joints, no closed kinematic loops. Every link declares real, non-zero mass and inertia.

Choosing a variant

  • K1 — the standard 22-DOF platform.
  • K1 — With ZED camera — the identical mechanism with a ZED stereo camera integrated into the head, for depth-perception work.
  • K1 — Locomotion only — head and arms fixed rigid, only the 12 leg joints actuated, for gait and balance work where the upper body would just add simulation cost.
