Bittle is Petoi’s agile, palm-sized robot dog — a fully 3D-printable, open-source quadruped designed to feel like a scaled-down version of the dynamic four-legged robots research labs build, aimed at STEM education, coding practice, and AI-robotics experimentation rather than being a sealed-up toy. It launched via a Kickstarter that raised over $500,000, and Petoi has since shipped more than 15,000 robots worldwide across its product line.
The mechanism
Nine actuated joints: two per leg (a shoulder and a shank joint) across all four legs, plus one neck joint — matching Petoi’s own published “9 DOF” spec for this platform exactly. No mimic joints or closed kinematic loops; every one of the nine is a real, independently driven servo.
